Your donation stays with the Rio de Janeiro branch and funds volunteer training, first-aid training, preventive education and community action across the state.
How it works
- Who can donate onlineThe form asks for a CPF, the Brazilian individual taxpayer number, and a phone number with a Brazilian area code, for card and PIX alike. If you live in Brazil you almost certainly have a CPF. If you are outside Brazil, read “Donating from outside Brazil” below.
- Choose an amount and how to payAny amount helps. You can also cover the payment processing cost so the full amount reaches the branch, and you may donate anonymously.
- Get your receiptA receipt with a protocol number is sent to your e-mail as soon as the payment clears.

Donating from outside Brazil: card only
From outside Brazil a card is the only way to give, and the reason is structural rather than a rule of ours. PIX is Brazil’s instant payment system, operated by the country’s Central Bank, and every PIX payment moves money between accounts held at Brazilian banks — there is no way to send one from a bank abroad. Card networks, by contrast, settle across borders, so a card issued in any country can reach the branch.
What holds the online form back today is the identification, not the card. Brazilian financial rules require an identification number on every payment, and the form asks for a CPF. Foreign residents in Brazil who already have one can use the form in full, by card or by PIX. If you have no CPF, write to us with the amount you would like to give and we will arrange the payment with you directly.
A note on language
The payment screen itself is in Portuguese. It is short — amount, name, e-mail, CPF, phone number, then card or PIX — and the buttons are: Doar (donate), Cartão (card), PIX, Doar anonimamente (donate anonymously) and Copiar código PIX (copy PIX code). If anything is unclear, write to us and we will help in English.
Where the money goes
The Brazilian Red Cross — Rio de Janeiro Branch is a non-profit organisation, CNPJ 08.560.973/0001-97, recognised as being of municipal and state public utility. Donations fund volunteer training, first-aid training, preventive education, community campaigns and the running costs of the branch. Payments are processed by ÚnicoPag, which transfers the funds to the branch.
Other ways to help
Sister National Societies, institutions and companies wishing to partner, donate institutionally or sponsor a campaign can write to us directly. For clothing, blankets and shoes, the Winter Clothing Drive receives donations at our headquarters, Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.
