Every year, the cold arrives before the care does. Families in vulnerable situations face cold nights without a blanket, a coat or closed shoes. The Brazilian Red Cross — Rio de Janeiro Branch is mobilised to bring warmth, dignity and hope to those who need it most.

When the cold comes, people without shelter suffer first
In the coldest seasons of the year, the basic needs of people living on the street or in vulnerable situations become more acute: warmth, protection, hygiene and reliable information. The Winter Clothing Drive exists to channel people's generosity and turn donations into well-organised humanitarian aid.
Giving quickly matters. Giving the right way is essential. Donated items must be clean, sorted and in line with the campaign team's guidance.
What we are receiving
Sorting avoids waste and gets help to people faster. These are the items that can be dropped off at the headquarters.
Blankets
Clean blankets and throws, without tears, ready for immediate use.
Cold-weather clothing
Socks, gloves, hats, scarves and long-sleeved tops in good condition.
Shoes
Closed shoes, in pairs, following the campaign team's guidance.
Two ways to take part
You can donate online, by card or PIX, or drop off items at the headquarters of the Brazilian Red Cross — Rio de Janeiro Branch.
1. Donate online
Choose the amount and pay by card or PIX on the official donation page. The page is in Portuguese; the English donation page explains each step, and who can use it from outside Brazil.
2. Drop off in person
Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, at Praça da Cruz Vermelha, 10 — Centro, Rio de Janeiro. For large quantities or items not on the list, write to the team first.

People who donate online to the Winter Clothing Drive will, in the future, receive access to free recorded courses offered by the Brazilian Red Cross — Rio de Janeiro Branch, as a thank-you for their humanitarian support.
Please note: the courses will be offered free of charge to online donors once the recorded-content area is available. The courses are in Portuguese.
